I’ve been hitting Kalamata on Monday nights for sushi, but decided this week to stay in and try some new things. A trip to the local Asian food market yielded some pretty great new things! I got some dried shiitake mushrooms, a huge container of toasted sesame seeds, a bag of kim chi dumplings & an assortment of soy wrappers. I was excited to say the least!
First course: Steamed Kim Chi Dumplings with a Gyoza Dipping Sauce

Second Course: Red Miso Soup

Main Course: The sushi is made with the soy wrappers, prepared Szechuan tofu and veggies like red lettuce, avocado, shredded burdock and the rehydrated shiitake.

Quick and easy. Threw the rice in the cooker with some salsa, fresh cherry tomato halves, chili pepper and cumin. Topped with a little diced jalapeno.

Melissa turned me on to Bragg’s liquid amino and I finally bought some yesterday. I couldn’t wait to try it! I think it smells and tastes a lot like Dale’s marinade, so that made me even more excited! Another rice cooker meal…the veggies are sprayed with Braggs and after steaming sprinkled with N. yeast. So. Good.

I’ve been super busy lately, so my rice cooker has become my best friend again. I love to put some grain in the bottom, veggies in the top and push the button!
The quinoa is spiced with cayenne, garlic and chili powder. The mushrooms are salted and sprinkled with nutritional yeast.
